Meet Lou Bardach - MSW Student Mental Health Intern

Lou (he/they) is currently working toward LCSW licensure as a master’s in social work student at the University of Central Florida. He graduated with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and is a member of both the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology and the Phi Alpha National Honor Society in Social Work. He is also studying the Internal Family Systems psychotherapeutic modal through the IFS Institute’s introductory Online Circle program. Lou additionally holds a degree from the Colorado Institute of Art, and views people connecting with their “art” (in all its many forms) as central toclaiming and living in one’s truth.
Lou has studied Tibetan-style meditation and mindfulness practices and brings a grounded, person-focused approach to working with others. He strives to create a safe environment to foster self-exploration and healing. He believes that health and well-being are cultivated through self-care -- by learning to become one’s own compassionate caregiver. As a gay man experienced in working with LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults, Lou is particularly interested in helping others heal from the effects of homophobia and other types of social oppression through the lens of intersectionality and empowerment.
Lou’s “arts” include writing -- poetry, fiction, and non-fiction (he is a published author), public speaking, meditation and meditative stretching, gardening, engaging nature, befriending animals (both domestic and wild), making children (and inner children) laugh, traveling to places he’s never been, and walking a lifetime path of personal growth and discovery.

Meet Jacob Lundy - Student Mental Health Intern

It's difficult to heal when we don't have the right words to describe our experiences and feelings. Jacob (he/they) encourages this understanding through compassion, curiosity, and empowerment. His style is person-centered, relaxed, and direct. He works with adults and couples, and he's also passionate about assisting and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community, being queer himself. He employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques to identify distorted thinking, manage anxiety and depression, and move towards mindfulness and awareness.
Jacob knew he needed to be a therapist when it came to him in a dream in high school. He began pursuing a Bachelor in Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and deeply fell in love with therapy when he finally went to therapy himself in his senior year. He has 10 years of experience working with children with special needs in music and English as a Second Language; as well as 3 years of experience as a personal service worker for autistic individuals.
